How is it done?
Due to technological changes, we are now able to take 3D scans with an iTero scanner which enables us to show you how your teeth can look almost instantaneously, removing the need for traditional impression taking with alginate.
An aligner is worn 22 hours per day for optimum effect, the aligners fit tightly over your teeth. You change your aligners as recommended by your dentist, either weekly or two weekly. The number of visits you will require with the dentists does depend on your specific treatment plan.
An Invisalign consultation would involve an interactive scan, photographs and x-rays if required. Your dentist may not feel that you are currently suitable for Invisalign due to dental disease, i.e. dental decay or gum disease. It is advisable to have all general dentistry carried out prior to moving teeth. There are also instances where your dentist may advise a conventional orthodontic approach rather than Invisalign.
